Detailed Design of an Urban Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre in Thunder Bay, Ontario


Project Objective

The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) seeks proposals for the construction of a Healing Centre in Thunder Bay. This facility will offer a safe, culturally relevant space for Indigenous women, youth, Elders, and 2-Spirit Relations, supporting their healing, wellness, and leadership development.

 

Project History

ONWA, Canada’s leading Indigenous women’s organization, has a long-standing commitment to advocating for the safety and rights of Indigenous women. The proposed Healing Centre, part of ONWA’s 2021-2031 Strategic Vision, will be built on a 6-acre property in Thunder Bay. This project is a response to the urgent need for safe spaces and land-based healing services in urban settings.

 

We’re seeking proposals from firms with proven expertise in Indigenous-focused projects. If your team excels in Indigenous design, green building practices, and culturally sensitive approaches, we’d love to hear from you. Submit your detailed proposal, including your approach, timeline, and cost estimates. We look forward to exploring a potential partnership to bring this important project to life!

 

Purpose of RFP

This RFP seeks qualified firms to submit proposals for:

· Detailed architectural and engineering design of the Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre based on schematic/conceptual design.

· Acquisition of all necessary approvals/permits to build and occupy the Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre.

· Tendering phase of the project

 

Proposals must be received no later than September 25, 2024 at 11:59 pm EST.  Submissions received after this date will not be accepted.
